Sri Lanka Cricket on Thursday informed that their team will play two T20 warm-up matches against Oman. Their T20 World Cup campaign will start from October 18, before which they will play a warm-up match. UAE and Oman are hosting the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021.
Significantly, the Sri Lankan team will leave for Oman on 3 October and will go there to play two matches. These two matches will be played on October 7 and 9. After that Sri Lanka will play two official practice matches on October 12 and 14.
Sri Lanka CEO Ashley de Silva said, “We want to play as many matches as we can before the World Cup so that we can experience the matches in the UAE. We can take advantage of this with the match against Oman and the 2 ICC practice matches. Huh.”
Sri Lanka and Bangladesh could not qualify for Super 12. Sri Lanka are placed in Group A, along with the Netherlands, Ireland and Namibia. Sri Lanka’s first match is against Namibia in Abu Dhabi on 18 October. After that Sri Lanka have to play against Ireland on 20 October and lastly in Sharjah they will play against Netherlands on 22 October.
